The Pentagon, located in Arlington, Virginia, is the headquarters of the United States Department of Defense. It is the largest office building in the world, with a total floor area of over 6.5 million square feet.
On September 11, 2001, the Pentagon was attacked by American Airlines Flight 77. The plane crashed into the west side of the building, causing extensive damage and killing 184 people.

The attacks were the deadliest terrorist attacks in world history and the single deadliest incident for firefighters and law enforcement officers in the history of the United States.
